Austin Pick Up in Persian Blue from 1970 - Walk Around Video Sold with 1 Year MOT The truck has covered 122k miles, but the engine has done many miles less due to being updated to a 1275cc A Series. Please view the 15 minute walk around video for a very detailed description of this rare classic small commercial This is the first time this rare little pick up has been offered for sale since 1975!....the previous owner has owned and operated this lovely truck on his farm for many many years and it has been a part of the family. My garage has looked after the truck for the past 10 years and it has been extremely well maintained and has wanted for nothing from a maintenance point of view. The Austin had a rather major rear end overhaul in 2021 and there is an invoice for £10700 that details the works that were carrie out (the rear chassis was rebuilt and treated for any corrosion to a very high standard). The Austin has been improved for daily road use with the fitment of a 1275cc A series engine (Morris Marina) and the fitting of a 5 speed gearbox (Ford Type 9), there is a 1.5 inch SU carb fitted, the front brakes were upgraded to brake discs and pads, a brake servo was fitted, a conversion from dynamo to alternator. As you can imagine this has improved the performance of the truck and she is fully capable of getting up with the flow of modern traffic. The truck was used for a number of charity driving events in recent years, this is why the truck was always maintained to such a high standard to ensure reliability. The new owner could except this little truck to be capable of being a daily driver and to drive wherever is required. The later pick up's (from 1968) were fitted with stronger leaf springs and were rated as 8CWT (earlier versions were just 6CWT). The Austin version is altogether rarer than the Morris pick up, the only real noticeable difference is the 'crinkle cut' front radiator grille....and badges of course. The little Austin does present extremely well with bright and shiny paintwork and very straight bodywork, the interior is in very nice order and the seats are in very nice shape too. The original tonneau load cover is in good shape and covers a well preserved load area that is fully painted in black stone chip paint for longevity. The spare wheel and original jack is all there as is the original owners handbook. There isn't lots of paperwork and the invoices were used as part of the company accounts....however we do have copies of the work our garage has carried out over the tears (mainly servicing and maintenance) There is a black carpet fitted that is in very good order...originally the pick up would have only had a rubber mat fitted. There is a Sony stereo unit with hands free capability with speakers discreetly tucked away, there is a 'autolec' switch fitted that will preserve the battery for when the truck isn't in use. Hopefully the detailed walk around video will give a very accurate idea of the trucks condition, she is by no means a concours show winning classic....she is a highly usable 'everyday working classic' that is in very good order and cleans up a treat in case you did wish to take her to that car show! She starts on the first turn of the key and she will impress with her spritely performance....she really does fly up the hills!. The 5 speed gearbox means the truck can be driven long distances with ease and comfort. The truck is available for viewing at our base in Overton, Hampshire (RG25). We can arrange full UK transportation at a highly competitive price. We offer a part exchange service and can take in your existing classic, modern or light commercial vehicle. Please contact us for any further information that you may require, we don't reply to texts I'm afraid....we would rather you called us to enquire about the truck.
